Original, International Passion Canadian Pride
By Canadian Artist, Carol Lewis
Blending like the tapestry of Canadian citizenry, flags from all over the world blanket this horse and rider; layered Maple Leaves representing the cultural richness Canadian artist, Carol Lewis, has such pride in. Aptly titled International Passion Canadian Pride, it beckons to the hearts and souls of equine enthusiasts the world over. The rider seems to melt into the horse, expressing the relationship of trust and respect, rather than dominance and control, embodying the spirit, grace and beauty of Canadian Multicultural diversity. This artwork celebrates the rich heritage which built Canada and continues to fuel its power and shape its strength. The classical use of the reductive collage method of Étrécissement, layered glimpses of Passion and Pride echo from this expressive visual poetry. The horse gives the gift of flight without wings, a realization of age old dreams, and an empowerment unequalled.
The artist has over 30 years experience with horses, is a University of Guelph Equine Sciences Certificate graduate, certified Equine Barefoot Trimmer, and proud owner of Thoroughbred gelding Point Dancer. She works primarily in water colour and acrylic, mixed media, mural, Trompe L’oeil and sculpture. She has donated her artistic skills to countless fundraising causes, among them the Lions Society of BC projects for children, “Orcas in the City” and this years “Spirit Bears in the City”. Carol can be found in her studio on Vancouver Island, or spending time with her friends, family and loved ones, when not with her horse. Carol has been host mother to over 50 International students and believes that when you stop learning, you stop living. “I have had the good fortune to have traveled and experienced worlds apart from my own. I have the great fortune of love and friendship and the knowledge that everything I need to know in life,” she says, “has come from the masters of communication and inspiration – children and horses!”
Carol Lewis is generously donating the proceeds from the sale of her “Unique to the Herd” Pony, International Passion Canadian Pride, to the Victoria Riding For The Disabled Association.
